United Fishermen of Alaska (“UFA”) is the statewide commercial fishing trade association, representing 34 Alaska commercial fishing organizations participating in fisheries throughout the state and its offshore federal waters. UFA’s mission is to promote and protect the common interest of Alaska’s commercial fishing industry, as a vital component of Alaska’s social and economic well-being.

Summary of Position:

The Executive Director serves as the primary representative of UFA and manages the day- to-day operations of the organization. The Executive Director has the full authority and responsibility for managing the affairs of UFA, its office, and all objectives as determined by the Board of Directors.

Successful candidates should have demonstrated skills to effectively:

  • Interact with State and Federal Legislative and Executive branches, regulatory agencies, and their respective staff.
  • Communicate UFA positions to media outlets and the public.
  • Maintain communications with the UFA Board of Directors and members.
