Although our independent and competitive personalities guarantee we won’t agree on every issue, the votes of the seafood industry amount to a major force in Alaska politics.

As the summer fishing season approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to remind our members that 2014 is an important election year in Alaska. Along with the majority of the Alaska State Legislature being up for re-election this year, elections for our Governor, one of our two U.S. senators, and our sole congressman will occur. The 28th Alaska Legislature adjourned on day 95 of the 90 day session. UFA watched a number of bills in 2014; here is a brief rundown of a few of the bills UFA tracked or supported this year.
