UFA Update: July 14, 2017 – Fishing Safety Items

CF Safety Advisory Committee to meet July 27 on USCG Regulations U.S. Coast Guard is issuing a new task to the Commercial Fishing Safety Advisory Committee (CFSAC). The U.S. Coast Guard is asking CFSAC to help the agency identify existing regulations, guidance, and collections of information (that fall within the scope of the Committee's charter) for possible repeal, replacement, or modification. This tasking is in response to the issuance of Executive Orders 13771, “Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs; 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda;” and 13783, “Promoting Energy Independence and Economic Growth.” The full Committee is scheduled to meet by teleconference on July 27, 2017, to discuss this tasking. Many news stories came out last night after the budget conference committee agreed, but before the Senate and House had voted to pass the bill, which happened around 10 pm: Alaska Legislature averts shutdown with nine days to spare By James Brooks, Morris News Service-Alaska/Juneau Empire, Fri, 06/23/2017 - 9:02am With nine days to spare, the Alaska Legislature has averted a statewide government shutdown. UFA At-large election results – welcome new at-large directors Sue Aspelund and Rhonda Hubbard to the UFA Board, effective April 15. Bruce Schactler and Zach Hill were both re-elected.
